Expression of Interest: Cultural Hub & Marina Centre, Lowestoft
A Unique Opportunity to Shape Lowestoft’s Cultural Future
East Suffolk Council is inviting Expressions of Interest from experienced cultural operators to take on a long-term lease of a major new cultural and community facility in the heart of Lowestoft. This newly developed site will comprise the Cultural Hub and Marina Centre, forming a flagship project within the town’s wider regeneration programme.
The appointed operator will lead the programming and activation of this landmark venue, creating a vibrant, inclusive and financially sustainable cultural destination for the town and wider region.
What’s on Offer
The opportunity includes:
- A Cultural Hub, featuring:
- A large flexible event space (~450 capacity)
- Performance studio (~150 capacity)
- Three studio/meeting rooms
- A café for the venue with external spill-out space
- The adjacent Marina Centre, offering:
- 8,000 sq ft Ground floor flexible community space with fitted kitchen and storage
- 8,000 sq ft of first-floor office/studio accommodation
- A 10-year subsidised lease, with scope for revenue generation from events, hires and subletting aligned activities
- The chance to work with ESC’s project team during the final fit-out stage of the Community Hall, shaping the specification of the building ahead of completion in Spring 2027.
